Every individual holding an active DIN as on 31 March must complete DIR-3 KYC by 30 September each year. Miss the deadline and the DIN is deactivated automatically with a Rs 5,000 reactivation penalty.

Same-day filing
DIR-3 KYC is the MCA's annual identity refresh for every DIN holder. Two filing modes exist: the e-Form (used the first year or when details change) and KYC-WEB (a quick OTP-only refresh when nothing has changed since last year). Filing late deactivates the DIN immediately and attracts a Rs 5,000 reactivation fee.
TL;DR
If you hold a DIN as on 31 March, you file DIR-3 KYC by 30 September - no exceptions, even if you are no longer a director or are disqualified.
