Net Worth Certificate in Mumbai
Issued remotely by a practising CA, with UDIN, from ₹1,499
A net worth certificate is a practising Chartered Accountant's signed statement of your total assets minus total liabilities as on a stated date, carrying an 18-digit UDIN that the reader can verify online. Regikart does not have a Mumbai office. We serve Mumbai clients remotely from our offices in Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru: you upload statements, approve a draft on a call or by email, and receive the signed PDF, with a courier copy where one is needed.
Mumbai requests have their own mix. Alongside visa files and bank loans, we see financial-sector businesses whose regulator or exchange asks for a net worth certificate in a set format, and families whose largest asset is a flat in a cooperative housing society. The national guide covers the basics; this page covers what is particular to Mumbai.

Who needs one in Mumbai
Financial-sector requests: the regulator's definition comes first
Mumbai is home to a large share of India's brokers, advisers, fund intermediaries and non-bank lenders, and some of them have to show a minimum net worth to a regulator or an exchange. These requests differ from a bank or visa certificate in one way that matters: the regulation or circular defines net worth, and it may exclude items an ordinary certificate would count, or ask for figures as on a particular date or in a prescribed annexure.
So we start from the document that asks for it. Send us the circular, the exchange's format or the regulator's letter, and we compute net worth on that definition, word for word, from your audited or provisional balance sheet. Where the definition leaves a judgement to the CA, the certificate states the treatment. We do not advise on whether you meet the regulatory minimum; we certify the figure on the stated basis. For a company, the private limited certificate explains how share capital, reserves and losses are treated.
Banks and tender authorities. Mumbai's lenders decide their own format and how recent the reference date must be, so send us the bank's letter. Maharashtra government departments, municipal bodies and public-sector buyers set the minimum net worth, its definition and the date in the notice inviting tender, and the certificate follows that clause; a bank solvency certificate, if asked for, is a separate document from your bank. The tender certificate page covers the common clause types.
Consulates in Mumbai
Visa files from Mumbai go to missions including the US Consulate General in Bandra Kurla Complex, the British Deputy High Commission and the German Consulate General. According to the US State Department, the Mumbai consulate serves Maharashtra, Gujarat, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and nearby territories. We have not seen an official checklist from these missions that makes a CA net worth certificate compulsory. Where a checklist asks for proof of funds or a sponsor's standing, the certificate is supporting financial evidence next to your bank statements and tax returns. We show the destination currency beside INR at one stated rate for the reference date when your file needs it.
Ready Reckoner rates and Mumbai flats
In Maharashtra, the benchmark for stamp duty is the Annual Statement of Rates, commonly called the Ready Reckoner, prepared by the Stamps and Registration Department of the Maharashtra government for assessing the market value of property for stamp duty, and searchable through the e-ASR service on igrmaharashtra.gov.in. On a certificate, a flat can go in at a registered valuer's figure, at the Ready Reckoner value if the reader accepts it, or at cost, and the basis is written on the line. Banks often want a valuer's report for a high-value flat.
Two Mumbai specifics. For a flat in a cooperative housing society, we want the registered agreement and the society share certificate, since together they show what you hold. And where a building is under redevelopment, we show what you actually own on the reference date, not the flat you have been promised, and note the arrangement.
Worked example: a Mumbai salaried professional
Illustrative figures only. A finance professional in Powai needs a certificate for a visa file.
| Particulars | Basis of value | Amount (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Savings accounts | Bank balance on the reference date | 5,40,000 |
| Fixed deposits | Principal plus accrued interest | 10,00,000 |
| Listed shares and mutual funds | Market value or NAV on the reference date | 28,60,000 |
| EPF and PPF | Latest statements | 14,20,000 |
| Flat in a cooperative housing society, Powai | Ready Reckoner value, as accepted by the reader | 1,45,00,000 |
| Total assets | 2,03,20,000 | |
| Home loan | Lender's statement | 68,00,000 |
| Credit card dues | Card statement | 40,000 |
| Total liabilities | 68,40,000 | |
| Net worth | 1,34,80,000 |
If the bank or mission wants a market valuation instead, a registered valuer's figure replaces the Ready Reckoner line, and the certificate names the valuer's report it relies on.
The rules, at a glance
| Who can sign | A Chartered Accountant holding a certificate of practice from ICAI |
|---|---|
| UDIN | Required on every certificate signed on or after 1 February 2019; generated within 60 days of signing and verifiable by anyone at udin.icai.org |
| Standard | ICAI's Guidance Note on Reports or Certificates for Special Purposes |
| Government fee | Nil |
| Usual time | 1-2 working days once documents are complete; same day for urgent cases |
No statute prescribes one format for every purpose: the bank, embassy or tender document sets what the certificate must show, and we draft to that wording.
Documents to keep ready
Net Worth Certificate fee in Mumbai
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Regikart professional fee: net worth certificate with UDIN | From ₹1,499 per certificate |
| Family or multiple-entity work (both parents, a company and its directors, partners of a firm) | Quoted after a free review |
| Government fee | No government fee |
| UDIN generation and verification | Free (ICAI portal) |
Professional fees exclude GST at 18%. Government fees, where they apply, are paid at actuals to the department and are shown separately. A registered valuer's fee, where a valuation is needed, is paid to the valuer. Fees verified on 24 October 2026.
The ₹1,499 starting fee covers one certificate for one person or entity. A certificate on a regulator's definition, a tender needing the company and each director, or a family file covering both parents is quoted after a free review of the format and records. Being served remotely adds nothing to the fee, and we confirm the total in writing before we start.
Working with us from Mumbai
Regikart has no Mumbai office; we serve Mumbai clients remotely from our offices in Kolkata (head office), Delhi and Bengaluru. Send your statements, property papers and the format you have been given on WhatsApp at +91 70444 94804 or to [email protected]. A CA reviews them, sends a list of anything missing and shares a draft for you to check, on a call if you prefer. The signed certificate comes as a PDF by email, and a signed hard copy can be couriered to you where the bank, mission or regulator wants an original.
Timeline
Usually 1-2 working days once documents are complete, and the same day for urgent cases. Allow courier time on top if you need a physical copy, and allow longer if a property needs a registered valuer's report.
Checking the UDIN
Every certificate carries an 18-digit UDIN generated on the ICAI portal within 60 days of signing. The reader can verify it at udin.icai.org with an OTP, which is why a remotely issued certificate is just as checkable as one collected in person.
