Net Worth Certificate in Kolkata
Signed by a CA with UDIN at our Lake Town head office, from ₹1,499
A net worth certificate is a practising Chartered Accountant's signed statement of your assets minus your liabilities, as on a date someone else chooses: your bank, a visa checklist or a tender document. Regikart's head office is in Lake Town, so Kolkata clients can sit with the CA who signs, hand over papers in person and receive a certificate with an 18-digit UDIN that the reader can verify online.
Most Kolkata requests fall into three groups: parents backing a child's study abroad, families applying for student or visitor visas, and contractors and firms bidding for state, municipal and public-sector work. Each needs a different certificate, and the family flat or house, usually the largest item, has to be valued on a basis the reader will accept. Our national guide explains how the certificate works anywhere in India; this page covers what is particular to Kolkata.

Who needs one in Kolkata
Who asks for the certificate in Kolkata
Banks and education lenders. For a study-abroad loan, the lender usually looks at the co-applicant, typically a parent, and a net worth certificate sits alongside income-tax returns and bank statements in that file. For a business limit, the bank may also want CMA data. The bank decides the format and how recent the reference date must be, so send us its letter or checklist first.
Consulates. Kolkata has the US Consulate General, the British Deputy High Commission and the German Consulate General, among other missions. We have not seen an official checklist from any of them that makes a CA net worth certificate compulsory. Where a checklist asks for proof of funds or a sponsor's financial standing, the certificate is supporting financial evidence: it helps the officer read your bank statements, deposits and property together, but it does not replace them. We show the destination currency next to INR, at a rate and date stated on the certificate, when your file needs it.
Tender authorities. West Bengal government departments, municipal bodies and public-sector undertakings with offices in Kolkata publish tenders on the state's e-procurement portal, the Central Public Procurement Portal (CPPP) and GeM. The eligibility clause in the notice inviting tender (NIT) sets the minimum net worth, the definition and the date, often the last audited balance sheet. A bank solvency certificate, if the tender asks for one, is a separate document from your bank. Registered micro and small enterprises should keep their Udyam certificate ready, but a net worth condition still applies unless the tender relaxes it.
How Kolkata property goes on the certificate
West Bengal does not use the term "circle rate". Stamp duty here is charged on the market value assessed by the Registering Officer, under the Directorate of Registration and Stamp Revenue, which sits within the state Finance Department (igr.wb.gov.in). That figure is one of three bases we can use for a flat or house:
- A registered valuer's report, which banks often want for larger loans and which we rely on and name on the certificate;
- The market value assessed for stamp duty, from the registered deed or the department's lookup, where the reader accepts it;
- Cost, for a recent purchase, if that is what the reader wants.
Whichever basis is used is written on the line, so nobody mistakes a stamp duty figure for a sale price. Two Kolkata patterns need care. Older family houses are often held by several siblings or cousins through inheritance, and each person's certificate shows only their share, backed by the deed, succession papers or mutation record. And property owned by a company or firm goes into the entity's certificate at its book value from the balance sheet, not at market value, unless the tender or bank asks otherwise. A home loan on any property is deducted in full as a liability, so only your equity adds to net worth.
Worked example: a Kolkata parent sponsoring a student
Illustrative figures only. A parent in Salt Lake sponsors a child's master's degree abroad. The flat is held jointly with the spouse, so half its value and half the joint home loan appear on this certificate; the spouse can take a separate one.
| Particulars | Basis of value | Amount (₹) |
|---|---|---|
| Savings accounts | Bank balance on the reference date | 3,20,000 |
| Fixed deposits | Principal plus accrued interest | 9,50,000 |
| Mutual funds | NAV on the reference date | 6,80,000 |
| PPF | Latest statement | 4,10,000 |
| 50% share of flat, Salt Lake | Market value assessed for stamp duty, per registered deed | 31,00,000 |
| Gold jewellery | Registered valuer's report | 2,40,000 |
| Total assets | 57,00,000 | |
| 50% share of joint home loan | Lender's statement | 7,00,000 |
| Car loan | Lender's statement | 1,60,000 |
| Total liabilities | 8,60,000 | |
| Net worth | 48,40,000 |
If the visa file needs it, the same figures are shown in the destination currency at one stated rate for the reference date. The certificate then records the purpose, the documents examined and the CA's signature, membership number and UDIN.
The rules, at a glance
| Who can sign | A Chartered Accountant holding a certificate of practice from ICAI |
|---|---|
| UDIN | Required on every certificate signed on or after 1 February 2019; generated within 60 days of signing and verifiable by anyone at udin.icai.org |
| Standard | ICAI's Guidance Note on Reports or Certificates for Special Purposes |
| Government fee | Nil |
| Usual time | 1-2 working days once documents are complete; same day for urgent cases |
No statute prescribes one format for every purpose: the bank, embassy or tender document sets what the certificate must show, and we draft to that wording.
Documents to keep ready
Net Worth Certificate fee in Kolkata
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Regikart professional fee: net worth certificate with UDIN | From ₹1,499 per certificate |
| Family or multiple-entity work (both parents, a company and its directors, partners of a firm) | Quoted after a free review |
| Government fee | No government fee |
| UDIN generation and verification | Free (ICAI portal) |
Professional fees exclude GST at 18%. Government fees, where they apply, are paid at actuals to the department and are shown separately. A registered valuer's fee, where a valuation is needed, is paid to the valuer. Fees verified on 24 October 2026.
The ₹1,499 starting fee covers one certificate for one person or entity. A family file, such as both parents sponsoring one student, or a tender needing the company's certificate plus each director's, is quoted after a free review of what each certificate must show. A second currency or a prescribed tender format does not change who signs or the UDIN; it changes the drafting, and we confirm the total in writing before we start.
Working with our Kolkata head office
Regikart's head office is at 129A Bangur Avenue, Block A, Lake Town, Kolkata 700055. You can bring original deeds and statements, talk the draft through with the CA and collect a signed hard copy. If a parent abroad or elsewhere in India is the sponsor, a family member in Kolkata can drop the papers off, or everything can come on WhatsApp at +91 70444 94804 or to [email protected]. Our other offices are in Delhi and Bengaluru.
Timeline
Usually 1-2 working days once the documents are complete, and the same day for urgent cases. You approve a draft for names, dates and figures before the CA signs. A property valuation, if one is needed, runs on the valuer's timeline, and we tell you at the start.
Checking the UDIN
The signed certificate carries an 18-digit UDIN generated on the ICAI portal within 60 days of signing, as ICAI requires. You, your bank, the consulate or the tender officer can verify it at udin.icai.org with an OTP; the portal shows the document type, date and signing CA.
