Why it matters
Why Udyam is worth registering for, today
The certificate is free and quick - but the real story is what it unlocks. Cheaper credit, tender access, payment protection and a sharper credibility signal with banks and buyers.
Section 43B(h) cash-flow lever
Buyers must pay registered micro and small enterprises within 45 days (15 days where there is no agreement). If they delay, their tax deduction is disallowed - a powerful incentive to pay you on time.
Cheaper, collateral-free credit
CGTMSE-backed loans up to Rs 5 crore without collateral, priority sector lending and lower interest rates from banks - all gated on a valid Udyam certificate.
Government tender preference
Exemption from prior experience, turnover criteria and earnest money deposit on GeM. Reserved categories of government procurement open up to MSMEs.
Budget 2025 widened the door
Investment limits rose 2.5x and turnover limits doubled from 1 April 2025. Many businesses that had outgrown the old limits now qualify again - registering or re-checking is worth real money.
MSME classification (from 1 April 2025)
Revised limits under Budget 2025
Notified via S.O. 1364(E) dated 21 March 2025. Both investment and turnover must be within the limit - if either is exceeded, the enterprise moves to the next higher category. Investment limits rose 2.5x and turnover limits doubled.
| Category | Investment (plant, machinery, equipment) | Annual turnover |
|---|---|---|
| Micro | Up to Rs 2.5 crore | Up to Rs 10 crore |
| Small | Up to Rs 25 crore | Up to Rs 100 crore |
| Medium | Up to Rs 125 crore | Up to Rs 500 crore |
Old vs revised limits
Many businesses that had outgrown the old limits now qualify again. Existing registrations benefit automatically without re-registration.
| Category | Old (investment / turnover) | Revised from 1 Apr 2025 |
|---|---|---|
| Micro | Rs 1 cr / Rs 5 cr | Rs 2.5 cr / Rs 10 cr |
| Small | Rs 10 cr / Rs 50 cr | Rs 25 cr / Rs 100 cr |
| Medium | Rs 50 cr / Rs 250 cr | Rs 125 cr / Rs 500 cr |
Who needs it
Who should register for Udyam?
Registration is voluntary but practical from day one. Most MSME schemes, tender benefits and the Section 43B(h) payment protection require a valid Udyam certificate.
Manufacturers and service providers
Any manufacturer or service provider within the micro, small or medium investment and turnover limits. The composite test applies - both numbers must be within range.
Wholesale and retail traders
Traders have been eligible since July 2021. If you run a trading business within the limits, you can register and access most MSME schemes - subject to specific scheme-level eligibility.
All entity types
Proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs, private and public companies, trusts and societies can all register. The Aadhaar of the authorised person plus the PAN of the enterprise drive the process.
MSMEs we have served
What businesses say about Regikart
Regikart re-classified us under the revised Budget 2025 limits - we moved from medium back to small and qualified for tenders we had been locked out of. Real money on the table.
Anand P.
Director, manufacturing Pvt Ltd
Our Udyog Aadhaar was three years stale. Regikart migrated us to Udyam in two days and unlocked CGTMSE eligibility. Bank approved a Rs 1.5 cr facility within a month.
Meera J.
Proprietor, trading firm
Section 43B(h) was the lever we needed. After Regikart helped us register, a long-pending buyer cleared 60 lakh of dues within the 45-day window. Worth every rupee.

What we handle end-to-end
Classification check
We confirm whether you are micro, small or medium under the revised Budget 2025 limits, applying the composite investment-plus-turnover test correctly.
Portal filing
We register your enterprise on udyamregistration.gov.in, validate Aadhaar, PAN and GSTIN, and obtain the 12-digit URN with the e-certificate.
Udyog Aadhaar migration
We move legacy UAM registrations to Udyam. Udyog Aadhaar has not been valid for benefits since 30 June 2022 - if you are still on it, your benefits are at risk.
Annual update
We update turnover, investment and ownership every year on the Udyam portal so the registration stays active. Skipping this can deactivate your URN.
Udyam Assist Platform
For informal micro enterprises without PAN or GST, we register through the Udyam Assist Platform (UAP) - keeping the smallest businesses inside the MSME safety net.
Benefit guidance
We map your registration to CGTMSE collateral-free credit, GeM tender preference, TReDS invoice discounting and Section 43B(h) - so the certificate is not just a piece of paper.

Why Regikart
Why MSMEs choose us
CA and CS led
Classification, filing and annual updates are reviewed by qualified Chartered Accountants and Company Secretaries - not by VAs reading off a portal.
Composite test applied correctly
Both investment and turnover must be within the limit and units under one PAN are aggregated. We apply the test properly so your category is right from day one.
Annual update tracking
We calendar your yearly update and file it - so your registration never goes inactive and you never lose benefit eligibility.
Pan-India presence
Offices in Kolkata, Delhi, Gurugram and Pune. We serve MSMEs across India, both in person and remotely, with regional language support.
Benefit activation
Most clients leave benefits on the table after registering. We help you actually use CGTMSE, GeM, TReDS and Section 43B(h) - not just hold the certificate.
Transparent pricing
Fixed professional fee disclosed upfront. The government portal fee is zero, and we never charge fake 'expediting' or 'government' premiums on a free process.
Common mistakes
Where DIY Udyam filings go wrong
Wrong classification
Using only investment or only turnover gives the wrong category. The composite test means whichever is higher wins - we apply it correctly to lock in the right MSME tier.
Aggregation across units missed
All units operating under one PAN must be combined. Founders often register separately and end up in the wrong category, losing benefits or facing inspection risk.
Stale Udyog Aadhaar (UAM)
A UAM certificate has not been valid for benefits since 30 June 2022. If you are still flashing the old certificate, you have no actual MSME status. Migrate immediately.
Missed annual update
Skipping the yearly update on the Udyam portal can deactivate your registration silently. Banks and tender portals will flag this; we track and file it for you.
Treating Udyam as enough
The certificate alone does not unlock CGTMSE, GeM or TReDS - each scheme needs separate onboarding. We map your registration to the actual benefits worth pursuing.
DIY vs Regikart
Filing it yourself vs with us
| Aspect | DIY filing | With Regikart |
|---|---|---|
| Classification | Single-metric guesswork - wrong category common | Composite test under revised Budget 2025 limits |
| Aadhaar / PAN / GST validation | Failed validations cause repeat OTP cycles | Pre-checked before filing |
| NIC activity codes | Generic code picked - hurts scheme eligibility | Mapped to your real activity for max benefit |
| Multi-unit aggregation | Often missed - leads to wrong category | Aggregated correctly under one PAN |
| Annual update | Forgotten - registration goes inactive | Calendared and filed every year |
| Benefit activation | Certificate sits unused | We help onboard to CGTMSE, GeM, TReDS |
Legal and compliance framework
The rules behind the certificate
MSMED Act 2006
Udyam registration is granted under the MSMED Act 2006 and Ministry of MSME notifications. The revised classification limits were notified via S.O. 1364(E) dated 21 March 2025, effective 1 April 2025.
Section 43B(h), Income Tax Act
A buyer must pay a registered micro or small enterprise within 45 days, or 15 days where there is no written agreement. If payment is late, the buyer's deduction is disallowed for that year - protecting MSME cash flow.
Delayed payment protection
Under Sections 15 and 16 of the MSMED Act, a buyer who delays beyond the agreed or statutory period owes compound interest, and disputes can be raised before the MSME Samadhaan facilitation council.
MCA reporting (MSME Form I)
Companies with payments outstanding to micro or small suppliers beyond 45 days must file MSME Form I with the MCA on a half-yearly basis, by 31 October and 30 April.
