Udyam Registration in BangaloreFree on the government portal, ₹499 if we file it for you
Bangalore runs on electronics, machine tools, aerospace components and software services. Peenya, Rajajinagar, Bommasandra, Jigani and Attibele are full of precision machining and sheet-metal job workers supplying larger automotive and aerospace buyers. Those buyers ask for a Udyam Registration Number before they onboard a vendor, because paying a registered micro or small supplier late costs them their deduction for that year.

Udyam registration is free. Everywhere.
The Ministry of MSME states that Udyam registration is zero cost and that udyamregistration.gov.in is the only official portal. Registration, updates, corrections and cancellation are all free. Any amount charged by an intermediary, including ours, is a professional fee for advisory and filing work, not a government levy. A large share of page-one search results are private sites charging what they present as a government fee for a free process.

Which office does what for a Bangalore MSME
No Bangalore office issues a Udyam certificate. The filing runs centrally on udyamregistration.gov.in, validated against Aadhaar, PAN and GST data. What is local is everything around the certificate, and in Karnataka three of those things changed in the last two years.
Bengaluru now has its own Regional Director. From 16 February 2026 the Ministry of Corporate Affairs created RD (South Western Region) at Bangalore, covering Karnataka, Kerala and Lakshadweep. Before that, Regional Director approvals for a Karnataka company went out of state. ROC Bangalore itself did not change: its jurisdiction is unchanged by the 2026 reorganisation, so your annual filings and incorporations sit where they always did. What has moved is the Regional Director layer, which matters for any application that needs RD confirmation, such as INC-23 on a registered-office change across ROCs or states.
The Facilitation Council is the state's. A registered micro or small enterprise whose buyer pays late makes a reference under section 18 of the MSMED Act to the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council constituted by the Government of Karnataka under section 20, filed through the MSME Samadhaan portal. The Council conciliates and then arbitrates. Unregistered suppliers do not get that route.
The Karnataka cost layer around Udyam
Udyam is free. These are the Karnataka registrations that sit beside it.
Profession tax, with an unusually high exemption. Karnataka levies it under the Karnataka Tax on Professions, Trades, Callings and Employments Act, 1976, through the Commercial Taxes Department at ctax.karnataka.gov.in, with enrolment and registration handled alongside e-Karmika. There is no government fee for registration or enrolment: the only amount payable is the tax. Enrolment is ₹2,500 a year for each place of business, raised from ₹2,400 with effect from 1 April 2025. On the salary side, deduction is nil up to ₹25,000 a month, and above that ₹200 a month for eleven months with ₹300 in February, which comes to ₹2,500 a year. That ₹25,000 threshold is far above Maharashtra's ₹7,500, so a large part of a Bangalore payroll falls outside profession tax altogether. Return forms and due dates we confirm from the department rather than publish here.
Shops and establishments: the 2026 amendment changed the answer. The base law is the Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments Act, 1961, filed on e-Karmika. The Karnataka Shops and Commercial Establishments (Amendment) Act, 2026 was assented on 3 September 2026 and gazetted on 4 September 2026, in force immediately. Three things in it matter to an MSME:
- Registration is valid until closure. There is no renewal. If you have been budgeting for an annual renewal, stop.
- An establishment with ten or more workers that is already registered under the Occupational Safety, Health and Working Conditions Code, 2020 is excluded from the Act altogether. Some Bangalore employers now need no Karnataka shops registration at all, which is the opposite of what most pages still say.
- No separate registration for a godown within 100 metres of the registered premises.
The municipal body has changed, and the old one no longer exists. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has been dissolved. Bengaluru is administered by the Greater Bengaluru Authority through five city corporations: Bengaluru Central, North, South, East and West City Corporations. Trade licences for the trades listed in Schedule X of the Karnataka Municipal Corporations Act, 1976 come from whichever of the five covers your premises, with the fee fixed by that corporation by trade category and the validity period chosen at application. We confirm the corporation from the address; we do not publish a locality map, and we do not repeat the old renewal window that applied before the reorganisation, which was never confirmed for the new corporations.
Karnataka stamp duty on incorporation documents is quoted to you before filing. The published rates disagree with each other by a factor of ten, so we get it confirmed rather than estimate it.
What a Bangalore business usually needs alongside Udyam
Udyam reads turnover from GST records and investment from income tax records, so start there: GST registration and income tax return filing. Then Karnataka profession tax enrolment, and a check on whether the 2026 amendment leaves you needing shop and establishment registration at all. If the enterprise is a company or an LLP, private limited company registration and LLP registration explain the ROC Bangalore side.
Come to the Bengaluru office
Regikart has an office in Bengaluru, at 26, Krishnalaya Complex, 4th Cross, N.R. Road, near S.J. Park Police Station, Bengaluru, Karnataka 560002. You can drop documents there, or send them on WhatsApp at +91 70444 94804 or by email to [email protected]. Udyam itself needs no documents uploaded, so most Bangalore clients never come in; the office matters more for the profession tax, shops law and ROC work that sits around it. Our other offices are Kolkata (head office) and Delhi.
What Udyam registration means for a Bangalore business
Udyam registration is the Government of India's online MSME registration under the MSMED Act, 2006, issuing a permanent Udyam Registration Number and an e-certificate to a micro, small or medium enterprise.
It is filed centrally on udyamregistration.gov.in and validated against Aadhaar, PAN and GSTN data. Investment is drawn from income tax records and turnover from GST records, which means the figures you declare must reconcile with what you have already filed.
For Bangalore specifically, the certificate does two things. It makes the enterprise visible to buyers in Peenya, Rajajinagar, Bommasandra, Jigani and Attibele, many of whom now ask for a Udyam Registration Number before they onboard a vendor. And it gives a micro or small enterprise standing before the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council constituted by the Government of Karnataka, so a late-paying buyer can be taken to conciliation and arbitration instead of to a civil court.
The composite classification test
| Category | Investment | Turnover |
|---|---|---|
| Micro | up to ₹2.5 crore | up to ₹10 crore |
| Small | up to ₹25 crore | up to ₹100 crore |
| Medium | up to ₹125 crore | up to ₹500 crore |
Ceilings revised with effect from 1 April 2025. The test is composite: an enterprise falls in a category only if both its investment and its turnover are within that category’s ceilings, and breaching either one moves it up. Export turnover is excluded from the turnover computation, and land and building are excluded from investment.
Who needs Udyam registration in Bangalore
Bangalore enterprises operating in Peenya, Rajajinagar, Bommasandra, Jigani and Attibele are the core population.
What Regikart handles
Delayed payments and the Karnataka Facilitation Council
A registered micro or small enterprise can make a reference under section 18 of the MSMED Act to the Micro and Small Enterprises Facilitation Council constituted by the Government of Karnataka, which conciliates and then arbitrates the dispute. Registration is what gives you access to that route; an unregistered enterprise has to sue in the ordinary way.
Documents required
The registration is Aadhaar-based and paperless: there are no document uploads. The portal validates against Aadhaar, PAN and GSTN data directly, which means the investment and turnover figures you declare must reconcile with what you have already filed.

Get the classification right the first time
The filing itself is quick. What costs businesses is a category computed wrongly, units registered as duplicate URNs instead of branches, or a registration that was never updated after the turnover moved. We compute the composite test from your filed ITR and GST returns before anything is submitted.
