FSSAI Registration in Hyderabad
Basic registration and State or Central licences for Hyderabad food businesses, filed on FoSCoS remotely
Every food business in Hyderabad, from a biryani house in the Old City to a cloud kitchen in Gachibowli or a pickle unit in Jeedimetla, needs an FSSAI registration or licence for each premises. From 1 April 2026, a Basic registration covers turnover up to ₹1.5 crore and a State licence up to ₹50 crore, and both are filed online on FoSCoS.
We do not have an office in Hyderabad and serve the city remotely from Kolkata, Delhi and Bengaluru. The national FSSAI guide explains the rules. This page covers what is particular to Hyderabad: the state food safety set-up, the municipal trade licence, and the cases we see most.

Which food businesses in Hyderabad need FSSAI
The food safety set-up in Telangana
Your FSSAI application is filed on FoSCoS, but it is decided by Telangana's food safety officers. Registrations are granted by registering authorities and State licences by the State licensing authority, both under the state's Commissioner of Food Safety.
Telangana has been reorganising its food safety and drugs control administration during 2026. Whatever the department is called, the FSSAI framework does not change: the same forms, bands and FoSCoS portal apply. What may change is the name on letters and inspection notices, and the officer who calls you, so we confirm the current office when your file is allotted. Greater Hyderabad's urban area spreads across Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri and Sangareddy districts, so the officer handling your application depends on where the premises actually is, not on a Hyderabad postal address.
A Central licence is different. It is issued by FSSAI itself, and FSSAI lists an office for Telangana at Erragadda, under its Southern Region.
Hyderabad food businesses also see frequent inspection drives, particularly at restaurants, bakeries and hostel or institutional kitchens. An inspector looks first at whether the certificate is displayed and matches the premises and the food actually being made, then at hygiene, storage, pest control and water, and at labels on packaged food. A credential in the wrong category, or one that names a different address, is treated as trading without a valid credential, so it is worth fixing before a drive rather than after a notice.
The trade licence alongside FSSAI
FSSAI does not replace the municipal trade licence. A restaurant, bakery, sweet shop or food store in the city also needs a trade licence from its municipal corporation, which is applied for and renewed online.
Hyderabad's civic administration has been reorganised during 2026, and the trade licence comes from the municipal body that covers your premises, so a Madhapur cloud kitchen and a Charminar restaurant may deal with different offices. We check which one covers each address and point you to the right portal; we do not quote municipal fees, which each corporation sets. Our trade licence page covers the process.
Common Hyderabad cases
- One restaurant, or a chain. Each outlet is a separate premises with its own registration or licence, decided by that outlet's turnover. A chain with outlets in Telangana and another state needs a Central licence for its head office as well.
- A cloud kitchen with several kitchens. One credential per kitchen. A brand with kitchens in Gachibowli and Kukatpally files twice, even if the menu is the same.
- A home baker. A Basic registration in your own name, with your home as the premises, is usually enough while turnover stays within ₹1.5 crore.
- A marketplace seller vs your own website. Selling through Amazon, Swiggy or Blinkit does not by itself need a Central licence; your own premises are licensed by turnover. Selling food through your own website or app does.
- A street vendor. If you are registered with your municipal corporation or town vending committee under the Street Vendors Act, 2014, you are deemed registered under FSSAI for that activity.
- A caterer or hostel kitchen. A caterer supplying offices, hostels or events is a food business in its own right, with a credential for the kitchen where the food is cooked, by that kitchen's turnover.
A worked example
A Hyderabad biryani brand has a central kitchen in Kukatpally with turnover of ₹2.4 crore, two dine-in outlets at Banjara Hills and Kondapur at about ₹90 lakh each, and orders on delivery apps. It plans an outlet in Bengaluru next year. This is illustrative; your figures decide your category.
| Premises | Turnover | Credential |
|---|---|---|
| Central kitchen, Kukatpally | ₹2.4 crore | State licence |
| Outlet, Banjara Hills | about ₹90 lakh | Basic registration |
| Outlet, Kondapur | about ₹90 lakh | Basic registration |
| Delivery app listings | Not a premises | Platform's licence; the seller's numbers are displayed |
| Head office, once the Bengaluru outlet opens | Multi-state | Central licence |
The rules, at a glance
| Basic registration | Turnover up to ₹1.5 crore; Form A; issued by the registering authority (state or local food safety office) |
|---|---|
| State licence | Turnover above ₹1.5 crore and up to ₹50 crore; Form B; issued by the State licensing authority |
| Central licence | Turnover above ₹50 crore, and whatever the turnover for importers, e-commerce food platforms (and brands selling through their own website or app), 100% EOUs and other listed activities |
| Validity | Perpetual for registrations and licences issued under the rules in force from 1 April 2026; no renewal cycle |
| Where you apply | Online on FoSCoS (foscos.fssai.gov.in); one credential per premises |
| Government fee | As prescribed by FSSAI for the category, paid on FoSCoS |
The bands and forms are the same in every state. What differs by city is the food safety office that handles your application, the inspections it runs and the municipal trade licence that sits alongside FSSAI.
Documents to keep ready
FSSAI Registration fee in Hyderabad
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Regikart professional fee, FSSAI registration or licence application | From ₹1,999 |
| Government fee | As prescribed by FSSAI for your category, paid on FoSCoS |
| Modification, additional premises or annual return support | Quoted on scope |
Professional fees exclude GST at 18%. The government fee is paid directly on FoSCoS, and we confirm the amount for your category before filing. Fees checked on 25 October 2026.
The starting fee covers one application for one premises. A Hyderabad brand with several outlets or kitchens, or one moving into a second state, usually needs a mix of Basic registrations, State licences and possibly a Central licence. Send us the list of premises with turnover and we will fix the category for each and quote the whole set before any work starts.
Working with us from Hyderabad
We do not have an office in Hyderabad. We serve Hyderabad food businesses remotely from our head office in Kolkata and our branches in Delhi and Bengaluru. You upload documents by e-mail or WhatsApp, we review them and prepare the application, and anything that needs a signature comes back to you as a PDF to sign and return by e-mail. Calls and clarifications run on the phone or video. We do not visit premises; where the food safety authority orders an inspection, you or your manager meet the officer, and we prepare you for it.
The usual sequence
- Category check. We look at what you do at each premises, the turnover of each, and any activity that needs a Central licence whatever the turnover, and tell you in writing whether each premises takes a Basic registration, a State licence or a Central licence.
- Documents. We send a list for each premises and check every document before upload, including the layout plan and food safety plan for a licence.
- Filing on FoSCoS. We file Form A or Form B, map your food categories, and you pay the government fee on the portal.
- Inspection, where ordered. The authority may inspect before granting a licence or a registration. We reply to any query raised on the application.
- Issue. The certificate is issued on FoSCoS with a 14-digit number.
What to keep up to date
- Modification when something on the certificate changes: a new product category, a change of address, partners or directors, or a jump in turnover into the next band. See FSSAI modification.
- The annual fee, every year, and Form D-1 by 31 May if you are a licensed manufacturer or importer.
- Display the certificate at a prominent place in each premises.
- Print the number on the label of packaged food, and give it to every delivery app or marketplace you sell through.
